Well I am hoping everybody is safe and sound from the last storm that hit the East Coast. One thing I noticed from the storm. Look at the gutters. Been meeting with clients this week and finding out, that walk thru's for the sale of the house can be strenuous. I have been thru several walk thru's this week with new home owners and can tell you that selling or buying is not crazy like you thought. The home inspection is a third party telling both parties of what they see could be updated. Do Not Dilly-Dally Around. As we are moving forward into summer, I have noticed a few things on my latest estimates that I would like to share with you. When another contractor states that it can not be done or the price is so extreme it will make you cry, there is a reason. For the past week or so I have been noticing alot of buildings and homes needing of repair from the storm damage. Now is the time to inspect your home, before a big rain storm may come up. WOW!. Its been a rocking week. Just completed the first level training for the EPA. WE are now Certifiied for Lead Paint Removal. This is a new requirement from the EPA that went in affect at the end of last year. Also, like to thank our newest client, Jarcon Construction Management. As we are currently servicing them on an expedited contract over the weekend.

How many times do I have to tell customers how to save money on their remodeling. Make a list. Have the contractor give you the material list and you buy it. We received an email at the office from a customer and personal friend of the owner in regards to her front door and storm door not closing properly. Her email stated "its not a big deal but when u get time can you come by to look at it. " I, went by her home to look at her door on Saturday. About 30 minutes later, her door was adjusted to open and close properly. The fault of the situation was that the screws from the factory had stripped over time. Grant they were only 1 inch screws. This my friends is why a 2 year warranty is issued to all customers for issues like this. To me its making sure that our craftmanship and reputation stands alone from any other contractor and a customer is always taken care off. Thank you.

With the cold weather through out the Mid-Atlantic an easy cure for frozen pipes is to have a small drip from the lowest working faucet in your home. Also, by having a heated incadescent bulb in your basement or crawl space on during tempatures below freezing, this will help prevent your pipes from freezing.

At the close of business yesterday, we recieved a phone call from Builder Magazine and City Guild that we are being nominated for the award of Top Remodeler/Handyman for the Maryland Area. This is huge. In addition, to this we have been rated by several customer's on Angieslist.com about the great work we have been doing. As I see decorations going up for the holidays, there are a few simple tips to remember.

Hard to believe that we are now into the Christmas Holiday Season. Seems like yesterday we were shovelling the snow on our steps. Well as the leaves are starting to turn, this means that fall is approaching. Wow, where did the summer go. So now is a great time to think about some outside work on your home. For example gutter guards, deck repairs, caulking and painting around your windows or possibly a new front door. As a short note for the last blog of August, please remember our children and teachers are going back to school. As I tell my employees it is best to leave home a couple minutes early to allow for the overflow of cars coming back on the road for rush hour.

On a Saturday evening, after meeting with clients I had to share the latest blog. Met a potential client in Potomac MD. Due to the inproper drainage in the backyard and winter of 2010 she has severe structural and water damage. Of course we can repair this to properly bring her home back to an established foundation. As a contractor I personally feel for her. If awarded the contract it will be the biggest heart felt contract ever recieved.

This all could have been avoided by proper drainage of the gutters and landscaping. In addition home owners have to inspect their foundation structural supports bi-annualy at the very least, in case this problem sneaks up on them. Please call us to inspect your foundation. Well I personally have thank PetsMart nd Kmart for being our newest clients we serve through CFS and Service Live. Through our light commercial division we have completed successful contracts with them.

After a great weekend of catching up on jobs and spending some quality time with friends up near the Columbia PA area, I got home and I just got my new license from VA. Yep. Now completely official for Class B of Virgina. The endorsements are Cement, Farm Improvement, Home Improvement, Commercial Improvement and Painting and Wall Covering. Had to share this immediately.

Well as we prepare for the weekend and the first week of August is approaching to an end I wanted to share this thought.

With the summer storms approaching now is a good time to check the caulking around your windows and doors. This is a simple process that if you see any gaps or cracks now is the time for us to re-caulk. Feel free to call us for a free estimate anytime.

As we approach the hot, hazy and humid days of summer in August there is some ways you can save on your energy bill.

Use ceiling fans on a medium speed in your rooms of your home to keep you at a more comfy zone. Keep the draperies closed when the hot sun is coming thru the windows. This will also keep the dust down too. Lastly, do not keep your fan from your furnace on a constant on. Use the auto selection instead.
